Help write women back into Scotland’s history — and our future.

At Protests and Suffragettes CIC, we’re building a Scotland where the stories of suffragettes and women changemakers aren’t hidden footnotes but vibrant, public, and everywhere — in schools, museums, murals, and on Wikipedia and the open web. Over the next three years, we’re scaling workshops, murals, creative commissions, and a national community that will reshape how women’s history is remembered, celebrated, and taught — ramping toward the 2028 Centenary of the Equal Franchise Act, which gave all women in the UK the right to vote.

We’re hiring two part-time roles in Argyll

We’re delighted to be recruiting for two part-time roles to support our growing social enterprise — both funded by InspirAlba, a charity supporting rural employability and creating opportunities for people facing barriers to work. These are supportive, skill-building roles, ideal for someone returning to work after a career break, looking to build confidence and experience, and excited by meaningful, community-centred work. Please note: you don’t need to have done everything listed in the job description to apply — we’re looking for the right person, not the “perfect CV”.

Role 1: Administrative and Marketing Assistant

  • Location: Remote working, with scope for onboarding/training at Kinning Park Complex, Glasgow.
  • Hours: 16 hours per week.
  • Contract: Fixed-term PAYE, 6 months.
  • Hourly rate: £13.45 per hour.
  • Start date: Week beginning 16 March 2026.

What you’ll be doing

This role supports the smooth day-to-day running of Protests and Suffragettes — and helps us communicate clearly, warmly, and consistently with our communities, supporters, and partners. You’ll help with:

  • Admin support, including emails, documents, systems, and spreadsheets.
  • Marketing and comms support, including social posts, newsletters, and Patreon copy.
  • Website updates, including formatting and uploading text/images.
  • Supporter/admin support for our membership and Patreon community.

This role could be a great fit if you

  • Enjoy organising and keeping things on track.
  • Like writing friendly, clear communications.
  • Are digitally confident and happy learning new systems.
  • Want your work to genuinely support social impact.

  • Hours: 16 hours per week.
  • Contract: Fixed-term PAYE, 6 months.
  • Hourly rate: £13.45 per hour.
  • Start date: Week beginning 20 April 2026, or as agreed.

What you’ll be doing

This role supports a new place-based pilot in Argyll — combining community-focused research with partnership building to help recover overlooked histories of women’s activism in rural contexts. You’ll help with:

  • Archival and desk-based research into women’s activism and suffrage history in Argyll.
  • Identifying archives, local heritage centres and community knowledge holders.
  • Building relationships with local organisations, schools, arts organisations, heritage centres, and community groups.
  • Supporting workshops, talks, Wikipedia activity, co-created murals and other collaborative creative projects.

This role could be a great fit if you

  • Love local history and community stories.
  • Enjoy connecting with people and organisations.
  • Are curious, proactive, and excited by research.
  • Want to help build partnerships that lead to real creative and educational impact.
