Workshop description

Women have had a powerful impact on the development of Scottish universities, even though they first enrolled in 1892! Learn how they built foundations for the pursuit of equity in education, and how that benefits everyone in Uni today.

In this workshop, you will learn about inspiring Scottish suffragettes and other women activists. You’ll engage in discussions that help you find your place in the evolving story of women’s success in university, as well as gaining insights into overcoming challenges, breaking barriers, and embracing your unique strengths.

We’ve purposefully hosted it in the Melville Room at Glasgow University, a wood-panelled room decorated with original paintings of notable lecturers and former students – all men. If you’re interested in women’s empowerment in university education – past and present – this is for you!

This is our first collaboration with My Academic Family, an amazing social enterprise working to support first-generation students in higher education. Funded by GSEN.
